Flag of Kosovo

Kosovo's flag is a blue field bearing a gold silhouette of the country's geographic outline, topped by an arc of six equal white five-pointed stars. Adopted on 17 February 2008 — the same day Kosovo declared independence from Serbia — the design was chosen through an international competition and is the work of Albanian-Kosovar designer Muhamer Ibrahimi.

The deep blue and stars were deliberately chosen to echo European Union symbolism, signalling Kosovo's aspirations toward European integration. The six stars represent the country's main ethnic groups: Albanians, Serbs, Turks, Gorani, Roma, and Bosniaks. Kosovo's flag joins a small club of national banners that depict the country's geographic outline on their field, underlining the young republic's distinct territorial identity.
