The Empire of Brazil (1822–1889) used a green field with a golden yellow rhombus and the imperial coat of arms — the green-and-gold design carried into the republic. Inside the diamond, the Imperial arms with the coffee and tobacco branches and the imperial crown.
The Brazilian Empire flag (1822–1889) featured the imperial coat of arms. The yellow diamond represented the House of Braganza (the imperial dynasty). The empire lasted 67 years before the republican revolution.
