Imperial Ethiopia (1913–1974) used the green-yellow-red tricolour with the crowned Lion of Judah, symbolising the Solomonic dynasty's descent from King Solomon.
Ethiopia's Imperial Lion flag represented the Lion of Judah — Ethiopia's traditional symbol. Emperor Haile Selassie I was called the Lion of Judah. The flag represented Ethiopia's ancient Christian monarchy.
