Flag of Kenya

Kenya's flag was officially adopted on 12 December 1963, upon independence from British colonial rule. Black represents the African people, red symbolizes blood shed for independence, and green represents Kenya's landscape and natural wealth. White borders signify peace, honesty, and purity.

The central Maasai shield and crossed spears carry deep cultural significance, representing the defence of national values and Kenya's rich indigenous heritage. The design evolved from the Kenya African National Union's flag introduced in 1951, reflecting both Kenya's Pan-African identity and its diverse cultural traditions.
