Flag of Morocco

Morocco's flag features a red field with a five-pointed green star at the centre. On 17 November 1915, Sultan Yusef formally adopted this design. The red field had been Morocco's symbol since the 17th century under the Alawid dynasty.

Red represents the Alawid dynasty's identity, bravery, and the blood shed by Moroccans defending their homeland. The green pentagram, known as the Seal of Solomon, was added in 1915 and represents the Five Pillars of Islam along with peace, hope, and protection. After Morocco gained independence in 1956, the flag was restored to serve as both an inland and maritime flag.
