Description

  • Three horizontal stripes of black, white, and green with a red triangle at the hoist — based on the Pan-Arab colours first used during the 1916 Arab Revolt
  • The four colours represent four great Arab dynasties: the Abbasids (black), Umayyads (white), Fatimids (green), and Hashemites (red)
  • This design was adopted by the Palestine Liberation Organisation in 1964 and recognised as the flag of the State of Palestine
  • It is similar to the flags of Jordan, Sudan, and the Western Sahara
  • Construction: three equal horizontal stripes of black (top), white, and green (bottom), with a red isosceles triangle extending from the hoist to approximately one-third of the flag's length
