Three horizontal stripes of red, white, and red with a blue canton containing the state coat of arms encircled by 13 white stars. The current design was adopted on 8 May 2003 after years of controversy over previous flags.
The state seal shows the pillars of justice and wisdom. The date 1776 represents Georgia's independence; 1799 represents the state constitution. Georgia adopted this flag in 2003 after modifying it from a previous version.
