The flag of the Arab Federation (1958) was a horizontal triband of black, white, and green with a red triangle at the hoist — the Pan-Arab colours representing the Abbasid, Umayyad, Fatimid, and Hashemite dynasties. The Arab Federation was a brief union of Iraq and Jordan formed in February 1958 as a counterweight to the United Arab Republic (Egypt–Syria).
The Arab Federation lasted only 5 months (Feb–Jul 1958), making it one of the shortest-lived political unions in modern history. It was created as a direct response to Egypt and Syria forming the United Arab Republic.
