The flag of the Mexican Empire (1821–1823 and 1864–1867) used the green-white-red vertical tricolour with the imperial coat of arms — an eagle with an imperial crown. The First Mexican Empire under Agustín de Iturbide and the Second under Emperor Maximilian I both used variations of this imperial flag before their respective collapses.
The Mexican Empire (1821–1823) was a brief empire after independence. The emperor was Agustín de Iturbide. Replaced by the Mexican Republic.
