After the Italo-Turkish War (1911–1912), Italy established the two colonies of. Italian Tripolitania and Cyrenaica, which merged into Italian Libya in 1934. They all used the flag of Italy.
Italian colonisation of Libya (1911–1943) was one of the most brutal in African colonial history. Italy's flag flew over Libya for 32 years, longer than many of Libya's own national flags have lasted.
