- Three horizontal stripes of red (top), black (middle, double-width), and green (bottom), with a white crescent and five-pointed star centred on the black stripe
- This flag was originally the flag of the Kingdom of Libya (1951–1969) and was readopted in 2011 during the civil war that overthrew the Gaddafi regime
- Under Gaddafi, from 1977 to 2011, Libya used a plain green flag — the only national flag in the world with a single colour and no design
