Description
- The Sovereign Military Order of Malta (1099–present) is the surviving Catholic chivalric successor to the Knights Hospitaller; it is recognised as a sovereign subject of international law without territory
- Construction: a red field bearing a plain white Latin cross — the state flag used since the 1960s
- A separate Order flag showing the eight-pointed Maltese (Amalfi) Cross on red is used for religious functions
