  • The Zand dynasty (1751–1794) was a short-lived Iranian ruling house founded by Karim Khan Zand, a Lur tribal leader remembered as one of Iran's fairest rulers
  • Construction: a white triangular banner with a green border and the Shir-o-Khorshid (lion and sun) emblem in gold at the hoist — reviving the Safavid heraldic tradition
  • Karim Khan refused the title of Shah, preferring Vakil e-Ra'aya ("Deputy of the People")
